Computer Scoring

Computer scoring is the only way to go these days. You want a program that will put your results on your web site. Many good programs are available. We recommend that you use any scoring program at least once before your event.

The Regatta Network online registration system provides for live online scoring directly to your website. Registration data downloads directly into most scoring programs. More info at www.RegattaNetwork.com.

The top priority after a day’s racing is to have complete scores posted – and, if possible, copies for all. Post scores on your website ASAP. First and last names of skippers and crews and their hometowns should appear in results. This means a lot to the kids!

The awards ceremony should be held as soon as possible after the last race. At all costs, avoid having awards held up due to scoring problems or protests.

Here are some free (or inexpensive) scoring programs that have worked for other JO race managers:

  1. www.stpetescorer.com (Automatically calculates Opti age groups!)
  2. www.sailwave.com
  3. For a complete list of scoring software: http://raceadmin.ussailing.org/Race_Officers/Race_Management_Materials/Scoring_Programs.htm
Important – Whatever scoring program you choose, please include competitors’ hometowns, as well as yacht club affiliation (include first name, rather than initial). Hometowns are essential to media. So are crew names.
