Sally Barkow Number One Match Racer In U.S.
(Portsmouth, RI) Sally Barkow from Chenequa, Wisconsin, takes over the #1 spot among U.S. Open match racers with her strong performances at three Open Grade 2’s: the Knickerbocker Cup, the Carlos Aguilar and the Chicago Match Cup Qualifier. Barkow is the first woman skipper to hold this ranking. Nevin Snow, the 18 year old San Diego match racer, drops from #1 to #2 which is still impressive and earned by strong finishes at the Ficker Cup and California Dreamin’ Series. Chicago Match Race Center founder Don Wilson holds the #3 spot. Wilson recently won the Richardson Cup qualifier at the CMRC. All three U.S. sailors are in the top 30 on the ISAF Open World Ranking List.
In the Women’s Division, Anna Tunnicliffe from Plantation, Florida remains the number one ranked skipper in the ISAF Rankings. She is also the 2012 ISAF World Cup Champion and will be representing the U.S., with her team of Molly Vandemoer of Stanford, CA and Debbie Capozzi of Bayport, NY, at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Barkow follows in the number two spot for US women sailors, having won the 2012 US Womens Match Racing Championship (USWMRC), followed by fellow US Sailing Team member Genny Tulloch from Houston in third, by virtue of her second place finishes at both the USWMRC and the Fall Womens Match Racing Olympic Trials.
