2012 ISAF Intl Measurers Seminar

Great Opportunity for Class Measurers

Attention all Class Measurers, there will be an ISAF Measurers Seminar and Refresher Clinic held in conjunction with the J/24 World Championship at the Rochester Yacht Club (NY).  The sessions will run from Sunday, September 9th to Wednesday, September 12th, 2012. Click here for the four day overview. Then measuring will start for the Worlds on the 14th.  This invitation and session is open to ALL CLASSES.

If you are a measurer involved with your class and want to upgrade your skills, learn about the latest techniques and procedures for regatta or boat measurement, want to understand the ISAF Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS) or be a better Chief Measurer for  your class, then this is the seminar to attend.  The last North American ISAF Measurers Seminar was held in Miami in 2005, and they only come to North America every few years.

The session will be broken into a one day ERS Clinic and three days for the Seminar where, at the end, you will have the chance to write the ISAF International Measurers exam which is a prerequisite for the International Measurer’s designation (IM).  The seminar and successful completion of the test are required for anyone to apply for an IM (see ISAF Regulation 31 at www.sailing.org).  With only about three seminars a year worldwide, and seminars in North America rare, this is a great opportunity for North American based measurers.  There will also be limited opportunities for participants to assist with actual regatta measurement for the J/24 Worlds.

As you may know it is a requirement of being an ISAF International Class that each class have a number of International Measurers and North America is under represented in the IM ranks.  Here is a chance to help out your class by getting involved.  This session is being hosted by US Sailing with the assistance of the Rochester Yacht Club and the J/24 Class.
